Movie - Ways to restore Indigenous Rights
- The Tharus of Nepal

The film gives an informative image of the strong and vivid culture of Tharu people of Nepal and of their well-working self governing system. However, the Tharus are under pressure, and have been so for many years. They have been dispossessed of their land and resources, they have very little access to public services and their political influence is limited. For years, many Tharus were enslaved by those, who had taken their land. Now they have been freed by law, but not yet compensated.

The film points at the ratification of Convention No. 169 as a possible solution to the problems of the Tharus, and can hereby provide at good basis for discussion on the contents of the Convention.
